How it all began

The Lo-debar Trust is a missionary organisation based in Northern Ireland. Many people however don't know about the work we do, therefore we would like to take this opportunity to explain firstly how we were established and secondly the Lord's work that we are currently involved in.

It all began in 1998 when a group of six people went out from Northern Ireland to Russia to help with a young people's camp. Those Russians who attended this camp were from a secular school in St. Petersburg and knew nothing about Jesus and His love and grace for our lost world. During this week, the young people learnt about how God sent Jesus to die for our sins. God also gave these six Irish people a love and burden for the souls of the young people there and their teachers. Leaving this Russian camp was extremely difficult; hearts were heavy and eyes filled with tears.

During the rest of their stay in Russia, three members felt God calling them to prayerfully consider doing more for Him in this vast land. After coming home and taking time to seek God, not only on a personal level but also as a group, they felt God clearly telling them that this was the right time to set up a charity to do outreach in Russia. The Lo-debar Trust was officially formed in March 1999.

In Northern Ireland there are three trustees, who work on a voluntary basis. The trust mainly works in the Perm, Alita and Novisbirsk areas of Russia and supports nineteen Russian missionaries; totalling 67 people.

The aim of the trust is to tell all Russian people about Jesus. We are involved in children’s camps, prisons, rehabilitation centres, hospitals and children’s refuge centres. We never ask anybody but  look to God to provide for our needs.

Our Aim

Our aim is to provide prayerful support and financial resources to Bible believing local Russian missionary committees enabling them to seek out and send men and women, who have been called by God and have the desire and zeal to serve Him, in pastoral roles, church planting, youth & children’s ministries as well as providing help with social needs. All the co-workers that have been selected for support are under the leadership of their local mission committee.

Our Four Principles

01.

We are a faith-based organisation: wanting to do God's work in God's way and in His perfect timing.

02.

All decisions will be prayerfully considered, seeking God for His help and wisdom.

03.

All resources provided will go 100% towards God's work in Russia.

04.

All trustees work for the Lo-debar Trust as unpaid volunteers and when travelling to Russia, each covers their own travelling expenses.
